Physical exams performed on or after May 21, 2014, need to be performed by a medical examiner appearing on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.

The roster of certified medical examiners appears on the following website: https://nationalregistry.fmcsa.dot.gov/NRPublicUI/home.seam

Physical exams that are current but were not performed by a medical examiner not on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners are valid through the expiration date.

CDL drivers still need to submit the physical and medical examiner’s certificate after the May 21, 2104 date.

CDL drivers must continue to carry a valid paper copy of the medical examiner’s certificate when operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) until January 30, 2015.
