JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Warren Hills Regional School District (serving grades 7-12) and the Washington Township School District (serving Preschool through Grade 6), located in Warren County, NJ, are seeking a motivated and dedicated individual for the full-time position of Transportation Supervisor. This collaborative role performs a wide variety of tasks to ensure the smooth, accurate, and efficient operation of transportation services for both districts. The Transportation Supervisor plays a vital role in the efficient functioning of transportation operations to best serve the needs of the students, parents, and staff of both school communities. This position reports to the School Business Administrator/Board Secretary of each district.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Develop, monitor, and evaluate school bus routes for both the Regional and Elementary districts
– Monitor daily transportation operations and coordinate with drivers to address scheduling needs
– Ensure compliance with federal, state, and New Jersey Department of Education transportation regulations
– Manage transportation accommodations for students with special needs
– Coordinate with school administrators, athletic directors, and activity advisors to address transportation needs
– Maintain accurate records and reports related to transportation services
– Assist in managing transportation budgets and identifying cost-saving opportunities
– Ensure implementation of driver training programs and safety protocols
– Serve as liaison between districts, parents, and transportation contractors
QUALIFICATIONS:
– High School Diploma or equivalent, required
– 3 years experience in school transportation administration, preferred
– Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), preferred
– Knowledge of state laws and regulations governing school bus construction, maintenance, and pupil transportation
– Demonstrated skills in personnel management, route scheduling, fleet maintenance, and cost containment
– Strong organizational and communication skills
– Proficiency in computerized routing software (VersTrans) and Microsoft Office/Google applications
– Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage changing priorities
– Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

Salary and work year to be determined by the School District’s Board of Education

Under direction, supervises the activities of Omnibus Operators; may also drive, clean, service, and make minor repairs to vehicles used in transporting persons on assigned established routes or to special activities, events, or destinations; does related work as required.

1. Graduation from High School or Vocational School or possession of an approved High School Equivalent Certificate.
2. Three (3) years of experience in operating a motor vehicle used in the transportation of six (6) or more persons.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a Bus Mechanic to institute and carry out regular preventive maintenance program. Monitor drivers’ reports of vehicle problems and correct as soon as possible so as not to interfere with scheduled runs. Maintain records, quotes, invoices, quarterly maintenance reports, drivers’ weekly maintenance check sheets, and responsible for having all vehicles inspected. Must be able to diagnose and make all general repairs to school buses, school vans, and other associated vehicles. Will drive as substitute bus driver as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
– A minimum of two years of diesel engine repair/service experience preferred
– NJ Class B CDL, with P and S Endorsements, no air brake restrictions preferred (will train)
– ASE certifications preferred
– Knowledge of NJ School Bus Regulations (will train)
– Ability to collaboratively interact with students, parents, and colleagues

The Commissioner plans to appoint an Assistant State Monitor to provide direct oversight of the Lakewood transportation office and transportation services provided by the district. The Assistant State Monitor for Transportation and Operations will oversee the coordination of transportation services, ensuring compliance with regulations and student safety; ensuring transportation services meet all requirements for both public and nonpublic school students, including special education needs; oversee the optimization of bus routes to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation, including for nonpublic school students eligible for transportation; work closely with nonpublic schools to gather necessary information and arrange transportation, ensuring eligibility and compliance; ensure transportation accommodations are made for students with disabilities, including those attending nonpublic schools; and manage contracts with private transportation providers to ensure proper billing and funding procedures, including state reimbursements.
