RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise district bus drivers. Coordinates daily operations necessary to ensure excellent service and the safe, efficient operation of the school transportation program. Communicate with school administrators. Oversees the operation of the school bus mechanics.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Preferred five (5) or more years of work experience in the transportation industry. NJ Transportation Supervisors Certificate
preferred or must obtain within 18 months of employment.
2. Valid New Jersey Class B CDL and excellent driving record.
3. All endorsements, including but not limited to School Bus, Passenger and Air Brakes.
4. Strong commitment to providing excellent employee relations, strong interpersonal skills, and customer satisfaction.
5. Demonstrated skills in transportation software (preferably Transfinder), personnel management, route scheduling and fleet maintenance.

JOB SUMMARY
This position performs a variety of highly specialized administrative support duties for the Transportation Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
2. Performs technical and complex duties requiring independent judgment and an understanding of
departmental functions and procedures.
3. Assists in developing and monitoring bus routes for safety and efficiency.
4. Assists in the supervision and training of in house drivers and monitors.
5. Assists in the scheduling of all bus transportation runs including field trips and athletics.
6. Maintains and edits maps and student data in District computerized routing software.
7. Maintains route books with current narratives and maps.
8. Receives telephone calls from parents and district staff. Operates a two-way radio system.
9. Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and parents.
10. Resolves problems, concerns and conflicts in a professional and positive manner by providing
information as appropriate; routing calls to other officials as necessary; and handling emergencies
in a competent and thorough manner.
11. Receives, handles and stores confidential information pertaining to the District or Transportation
Department.
12. Answers transportation staff questions about routes.
13. Arranges meetings as required.
14. Assists in the budget development process by gathering and compiling information as needed for
the Transportation Coordinator.
15. Develops and maintains a working knowledge of special terminology related to the position.
16. Creates forms, databases and spreadsheets as necessary.
17. Prepares Departmental reports by gathering and summarizing information from a variety of
sources.
18. Occasionally performs work beyond a standard 40-hour work week when work-load requires.
19. Performs other duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position.
20. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
