Job Description:
Job responsibilities may include: providing guidance and technical assistance and training in the administration of student transportation contracts and related policies, including assisting in developing and updating Student Transportation Bid Specifications, Policies and Procedure Manuals, and other related documents; conducting reviews of executive county superintendents’ administration of student transportation functions including their review and approval of contracts, electronic logging of contracts, and effective dissemination of DOE documents; working with county office staff to verify procedures and assisting with training county and district staff to ensure proper completion of transportation contracts; as necessary, work with county staff to ensure that procedures are being followed in the field, including travel to county offices, or via telephone conference or other means; performing the annual review, maintenance and update of the District Report of Transported Resident Students (DRTRS) electronic data collection system, including preparing specifications for required system updates; collaborating with IT programming staff to implement required updates and maintenance; testing the system before deployment into the field; updating the technical and policy user manuals; and assisting school districts to ensure timely and accurate data submission; developing criteria and design models to promote consolidated, efficient transportation practices; and identifying common characteristics and efficient transportation practices through the evaluation of the DRTRS data, district efficiency questionnaires, and corrective action plans.

Requirements:
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in education administration, planning, research, program evaluation, or finance.
Preferred Education/Experience: A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Transportation, Business Administration, Finance, or Project Management; and experience in transportation.
Note: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional experience as indicated on a year-for-year basis with thirty (30) semester hour credits being equal to one (1) year of college. Applicants wishing to substitute additional experience for the required Master’s degree, must possess a total of six (6) years of combined education and experience, in addition to the required experience cited above.

NORTH BRUNSWICK TOWNSHIP PUBLIC SCHOOLS
ASSISTANT TRANSPORTATION COORDINATOR

Qualifications:
1. High School diploma or GED, College degree preferred.
2. Must have an understanding of Federal, State and New Jersey Department of Education laws and regulations related to transportation.
3. Knowledge and experience in operating computer software in transportation routing and operations management systems, mechanical knowledge of operating a vehicle maintenance shop, student and staff safety program and driver training program.
4. May have a valid New Jersey CDL class B with passenger, school bus endorsements.

Job Goal:
The functions of the Assistant Transportation Coordinator shall be to assist and to support all directives of the Business Administrator or their designee relating to all areas of the transportation system including, but not limited to assisting in the oversight and maintenance of the school district’s routes and drivers to ensure their safety and efficiency and to implement the Board of Education’s transportation policies and to adhere to all state laws and regulations concerning school transportation.

Performance Responsibilities:
1. To become knowledgeable of State and local laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to and dealing with the operation of public passenger vehicles.
2. Assists in developing and implementing bus routes and schedules to effect efficient daily student transportation services including to and from school, sports and field trips, after hour activity runs.
3. Review with other districts the possibility of jointures and contracts for pupil transportation. Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the appropriate paperwork for the agreements.
4. Assists in arranging the transportation of pupils with disabilities as determined by the child study team.
5. Works with the maintenance department in ensuring that all district vehicles are in safe operating condition and that all vehicles meet and pass state required motor vehicle inspections.
6. Works with administration to formulate specifications for transportation contracts with private vendors.
7. Helps to recruit and train transportation personnel.
8. As directed, to assist with the supervision of any school bus driver activity as related to the bus driver’s job to include, but not limited to, radio dispatch.
9. Assists the supervisor of the transportation department in budgeting.
10. Office requirements shall include the understanding and operation of the school bus transportation programs and all other office skills/procedures as needed.
11. Serves in the absence of the supervisor of the transportation department.
12. Other assigned duties as requested by the supervisor of the transportation department.

BRANCHBURG TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT

MECHANIC

-Required criminal history background check

-Minimum of a Class C Mechanic
-Possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License. Valid CDL is preferred. CDL with P & S endorsement and air brake endorsement must be obtained within six (6) months of starting date.
-If under 21 when hired, employee must obtain a valid New Jersey CDL with P & S endorsement and air brake endorsement six months after the employee’s twenty-first birthday.
-At least two (2) years of experience as a mechanic in an automotive, school bus, trucking or heavy equipment environment, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Basic knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine maintenance, repair and the hand tools required to perform duties of a Mechanic

Job Responsibilities:
-Maintain Branchburg and Readington vehicles, maintenance equipment, and tools.
-Maintain records and repair orders, reporting problems with the vehicle, repairs made, parts used, time spent on repairs and the need for the follow up on the vehicle.
-Report all damages and causes to the Head Mechanic.
-Perform PM’s as scheduled according to sheets supplied and indicate on those sheets repairs and defects.
-Transport and make repairs of vehicles at breakdown locations.
-Perform any other tasks assigned by the Head Mechanic or the Transportation Supervisor.
