The Arc of Monmouth serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in group homes, day programs, and supported employment.

We are seeking qualified candidates for a Transportation Coordinator to manage the operation of The Arc of Monmouth’s transportation systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and previous transportation experience, as well as:

  • Associate’s Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a Fleet Management role, required.
  • Previous supervisory experience, required.
  • Experience with Fleet Management software, preferred.
  • Prior experience serving the I/DD population, preferred.
  • New Jersey driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the Arc and its insurer.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Completed or be willing to complete courses for transportation supervisor as well as have or be willing to obtain New Jersey State CDL with P & S endorsements. Applicant must have strong organizational skills, be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, have the ability to work independently, and have the ability to work and interact positively with a variety of publics.

REPORTS TO:
The Dispatcher is directly responsible to the Supervisor of Transportation for relieving the Supervisor of administrative detail and to assist the supervisor in the efficient operation of the Transportation Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  (illustrative only)
-Assists in the development of transportation routes
-Assists in the assignment of field trips
-Prepares state, county and local financial reports
-Utilizes the computerized transportation scheduling program to develop in-district bus routes.
-Performs secretarial work including typing and filing, completing jointures, other forms, drafting and editing correspondence, completing purchase orders and B8T’s.
-In the absence of the Supervisor of Transportation, supervises and assigns work to all transportation employees.
-Assists in implementation of inclement weather procedures
-Maintains accurate records including but not limited to payroll and budget
-Other responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor of Transportation

EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Supervisor of Transportation

REQUIREMENTS:
-Experience in vehicle maintenance and repair – eligibility to be determined by the Board
-ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certification preferred

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
-Develops & administers the district’s transportation program to meet the needs of the students and district
-Ensures compliance with all laws, regulations and board policies related to school transportation and safety
-Recruits, trains and supervises all transportation staff
-Proficient with Google and Microsoft computer systems and applications
-Provides a safety education program for all permanent and substitute school bus drivers and school bus aides bi-annually as required by law
-Prepares and administers the transportation budget efficiently
-Prepares District Report of Transported Resident Students annually

REQUIREMENTS:
-School Transportation Supervisor’s Certificate or grandfathered with 11 or more years of experience

Requirements:
Conform to all state laws and regulations regarding school transportation.
Maintain safety standards in conformance with state and insurance regulations.
Be the primary contact person for all district bus drivers and bus aides; Assist in scheduling bus drivers & aides; coordinate driver/aide substitutions and/or route modifications.
Assist in the administration of the contractual transportation program to meet all the requirements of the daily instructional program and extracurricular activities.
Maintain all district owned equipment & develop plans for preventative maintenance, including vehicles not used for transportation.
Act as liaison with parents for concerns and special requests.
Assist in the design of busing routes w/ maps & lists for various bus routes for all district transportation.
Prepare transportation reimbursements for eligible students attending private schools.
Be available by telephone from 6:00 AM for drivers/aides needing emergency subs on school days and at hours necessary to accommodate district needs.
Inspect and fill out safety reports for all vehicles.
Arrange/schedule repairs on vehicles. Schedule safety inspections four times a year as required by law.
Perform other duties as assigned for efficient operation of the transportation office.

2. Pupil Transportation Supervisor Certificate.

• Negotiate contracts and ensure contract compliance
• Prepare and submit budget requests and monitor expenditure of funds in cooperation with the Business Administrator
• Prepare appropriate state/district reports
• Recommend for appointment, assign duties, supervise and evaluate the performance of employees as assigned
• Be available during early morning hours and on scheduled holidays as need arises
