The candidate will:
Conform to all state laws and regulations regarding school transportation.
Maintain safety standards in conformance with state and insurance regulations.
Be the primary contact person for all district bus drivers and bus aides; Assist in scheduling bus drivers & aides; coordinate driver/aide substitutions and/or route modifications.
Assist in the administration of the contractual transportation program to meet all the requirements of the daily instructional program and extracurricular activities.
Maintain all district owned equipment & develop plans for preventative maintenance, including vehicles not used for transportation.
Act as liaison with parents for concerns and special requests.
Assist in the design of busing routes w/ maps & lists for various bus routes for all district transportation.
Prepare transportation reimbursements for eligible students attending private schools.
Be available by telephone from 6:00 AM for drivers/aides needing emergency subs on school days and at hours necessary to accommodate district needs.
Inspect and fill out safety reports for all vehicles.
Arrange/schedule repairs on vehicles. Schedule safety inspections four times a year as required by law.
Perform other duties as assigned for efficient operation of the transportation office.

Qualifications:

CDL Bus License.

Pupil Transportation Supervisor Certificate.

Previous experience.

Strong Interpersonal and communication skills.

The Assistant Transportation Coordinator will work closely with the Transportation Coordinator and all Educational Service Commissions in the development and implementation of all bus and van routes for the district. The Assistant Coordinator will oversee the daily dispatch of our buses to enable each student through safe and efficient transportation to take full advantage of the complete range of curricular and extracurricular activities offered by the district’s schools. To ensure the district complies with all federal and state laws concerning transportation and compliance. Must be able to multitask, ensure compliance with State and federal laws, rules, and regulations regarding school bus safety; providing periodic training in the proper use of emergency equipment; and the dissemination of industry best practices for avoiding accidents.

Qualifications:
Hold a CDL class B with Airbrakes, P & S endorsements
Ability to perform pre-trip safety inspection
Experience as a transportation assistant, dispatcher or driver
Experience developing bus routes
Excellent knowledge of Versa Trans (or other transportation routing software)
Computer literate-Experience with Google and Microsoft Word & Excel.

Requirements:
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in Education or related
field. Note: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional experience as indicated on
a year-for-year basis with thirty (30) semester hour credits being equal to one (1) year of college. Applicants
wishing to substitute additional experience for the required master’s degree, must possess a total of six (6) years
of combined education and experience, in addition to the required experience cited above.

Experience: Three (3) years of experience in education administration, planning, research, program evaluation, or
finance.
Preferred Experience: Previous experience related to student transportation in a state agency or school district;
experience ensuring compliance with a statutory or regulatory framework; experience with writing and

4. Assists in arranging the transportation of pupils with disabilities as determined by the child study team.
5. Works with the maintenance department in ensuring that all district vehicles are in safe operating condition and that all vehicles meet and pass state required motor vehicle inspections.
6. Works with administration to formulate specifications for transportation contracts with private vendors.
7. Helps to recruit and train transportation personnel.
8. As directed, to assist with the supervision of any school bus driver activity as related to the bus driver’s job to include, but not limited to, radio dispatch.
9. Assists the supervisor of the transportation department in budgeting.

-Report all damages and causes to the Head Mechanic.
-Perform PM’s as scheduled according to sheets supplied and indicate on those sheets repairs and defects.
-Transport and make repairs of vehicles at breakdown locations.
-Perform any other tasks assigned by the Head Mechanic or the Transportation Supervisor.

Possesses the ability to follow directions and maintain accurate records, with a demonstrated attitude for successful completion of tasks assigned to by the Fleet Maintenance Manager or Director of Transportation.

Must have or be willing to obtain a CDL Class B with school bus, air brake and passenger endorsements within one year after the initial date of employment.
